Ultra Clean Holdings Inc (UCT) has opened a new manufacturing facility in Penang, Malaysia, aimed at expanding its presence in the semiconductor sector. The new facility represents an investment of MYR 250 million (about USD 52.34 million).
The CEO Jim Scholhamer said UCT anticipated that upon completion of all phases, the facility would generate an additional revenue potential of $600 million to $800 million (RM3.78 billion), significantly enhancing the local economy.
Scholhamer also mentioned that Malaysia was chosen for its strategic location in the Asia-Pacific region and strong government support.
Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow expressed optimism about UCT's operations in Penang, known as the Silicon Valley of the East, highlighting the state's strong export performance and commitment to attracting companies focused on advanced technologies and sustainable investing.
