A leading PCB automation equipment company, Taesung (KOSDAQ: 323280), has secured its first glass substrate equipment contract, marking a significant step into its new business sector. The company signed an agreement with Joongwoo M-Tech, a key player in the domestic glass substrate processing supply chain.
Taesung demonstrated its competitive edge in the core TGV (Through Glass Via) manufacturing process and subsequent etching equipment, positioning itself to accelerate specifications discussions with other potential clients and secure additional orders.
According to the investment banking industry on the 25th, Taesung's contract with Joongwoo M-Tech is initially set on a small scale as a testbed, with plans to expand the order volume through further negotiations.
Taesung expects this contract to fast-track its glass substrate equipment business — one of the company's two key new ventures. The deal came after intense competition with major rivals, which Taesung believes will give it an advantageous position in future negotiations with other customers.
The company is also eyeing success beyond the domestic market. From March 24 to 26, Taesung participated in CPCA, China's largest PCB exhibition held in Shanghai, where it engaged in meetings with several companies from China and Taiwan.
These companies showed positive interest in Taesung's glass substrate equipment, particularly its ability to handle the entire back-end process — from development and etching to stripping. Detailed specifications are now under discussion.
Taesung's copper foil composite equipment is also drawing significant interest from Chinese companies. During CPCA, Taesung advanced spec negotiations with several companies, including a major Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer. Sources indicate that deals with one or two companies are in the final stages, with orders expected soon.
A Taesung representative stated, "We moved quickly to secure the initial order, entering the market ahead of competitors. This early success positions us to accelerate talks with other potential customers."
