Sunshine Global Circuits (abbreviated as Sunshine, SHE: 300739) has announced that the acquisition of Vision Industries in Penang has been approved by Malaysian regulatory agencies. This completes the sale of Vision to Sunshine and allows the transfer of manufacturing licenses to Sunshine. Sunshine can now proceed full-speed ahead with the next phase of integration and capital investments.
Sunshine is actively quoting prices based on production in Malaysia and offering expedited leadtimes as well. Prices are expected to be higher compared to China but there is no 25% tariff when importing to the US. Moving production to Malaysia cannot be considered a cost-saving activity, but rather a diversification of supply chain and risk mitigation. Material suppliers are also setting up facilities in Malaysia so Sunshine is expecting a decrease in costs in the next 1-2 years.
Vision builds 2L-12L rigid PCB with FR4 and Rogers/Teflon materials. It is particularly strong in radio frequency microwave PCB with technically challenging attributes such as .004" RO4350B LoPro laminate, .005" RT5880 laminate, RO4003C + RF4450F, RT6035HTC + 2929 Bond Ply, wave guide pockets with plated edges, selective soft gold plating, and plated over filled vias (POFV). Applications include power amplifiers, filters, antennas, transceiver, and RF/SI testing. These devices are found in many industries such as 5G telecom, satcom, aerospace, automotive, and medical devices. Examples of PCB's shown here were made by Vision.
Sunshine is also working to acquire 2 plots of land in Malaysia and plans to build up a large manufacturing base in the Penang area over the next 3-5 years.
