STMicroelectronics (STM.US) announced that it had entered into a long-term supply agreement with Geely Holding Group for Silicon Carbide (SiC) devices, further accelerating the SiC device collaboration on the basis of the existing cooperation.
Pursuant to the agreement, STMicroelectronics will provide SiC power devices to GEELY AUTO (00175.HK)'s mid-range and high-end electric vehicles (EVs), helping to improve the performance of EVs, accelerate charging speed, extend range, and deepen the transformation of new energy vehicles (NEVs).
Geely Auto Group has adopted ST’s third generation SiC MOSFET devices in electric traction inverters. The traction inverter is the core of electric powertrains and SiC MOSFETs maximize their efficiency.
In addition, GEELY will establish an innovation joint laboratory with STMicroelectronics to explore innovative solutions in the automotive electronics/ electrical (E/E) architecture, including in-vehicle infotainment and intelligent cabin systems, as well as in areas related to advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) and NEVs.
As a leading global automobile manufacturer and China’s top automotive brand, Geely Auto sold a total of 1.68 million vehicles in 2023, with NEV sales reaching 480,000 units, accounting for 28% of the company’s total sales for the year.
