On March 13, South Korean IC substrate manufacturer Simmtech (KOSDAQ: 222800) officially signed a strategic partnership agreement with ASE Group, the world's leading semiconductor packaging and testing company.
ASE Group, which owns ASE Semiconductor and Siliconware Precision Industries (SPIL), plays a vital role in the global semiconductor supply chain, providing advanced packaging services to top semiconductor manufacturers worldwide. The newly established Global Integrated Solution division at ASE aims to mitigate supply chain risks caused by international trade disputes. As part of this initiative, ASE selected Simmtech as a strategic partner, leveraging the company's global production footprint.
Headquartered in Cheongju, South Korea, Simmtech operates six factories across South Korea, along with facilities in China, Japan, and Malaysia, specializing in both PCB and semiconductor packaging substrate manufacturing.
Under this agreement, Simmtech will work closely with ASE Group's global production sites to expand the supply of packaging substrates and collaborate on developing next-generation advanced packaging technologies. This move comes as demand for semiconductors surges, driven by the rapid rise of AI-powered devices.
Jeffery Chun, CEO of Simmtech, expressed confidence in the collaboration:
"This partnership will further expand our footprint in the advanced packaging sector. As a global leader in memory semiconductor PCBs, Simmtech remains committed to strengthening its leadership in system semiconductor solutions."
This strategic alliance marks a significant step toward enhancing supply chain resilience and advancing technology innovation to meet the evolving demands of the semiconductor industry.
