Japanese PCB company Meiko(6787.T) held a completion ceremony for its new factory located in Tendo City, Yamagata Prefecture, on October 6th. This factory, positioned as the "second headquarters," is the largest of its kind in Japan and serves as a research and production base for automotive printed circuit boards.
Initially, the factory will employ approximately 60 staff members. It is expected to be fully operational by 2025, with projected sales of ¥15 billion (approximately $100.52 million), providing a total of 300 job opportunities, including new hires.
Meiko has constructed a three-story steel structure factory and research and development building, covering an area of approximately 65,000 square meters with a total floor area of around 27,000 square meters in Tendo City. The investment for this project is approximately ¥17 billion (approximately $114 million). The factory incorporates the concept of an "advanced eco-intelligent factory," implementing automated processes such as automated conveying. Additionally, measures such as solar power generation, metal and wastewater recycling have been implemented, resulting in a 30% reduction in energy consumption compared to existing factories, according to Executive Vice President Atsushi Sakate.
Meiko President Yuichiro Meiya stated that the first production line has been launched, but depending on market conditions, the addition of a second production line or a second factory is anticipated once full operations are established.
