KSG GmbH has successfully passed the environmental and energy surveillance audit, marking a significant achievement in its environmental strategy. Auditors commended the company’s progressive development and energy efficiency improvements.

One major initiative involved optimizing 25 ventilation systems, resulting in a saving of approximately 1,000,000 kWh of electricity in 2023. Additionally, KSG invested €330,000 in a highly efficient turbo compressor for cooling, which is expected to reduce electricity use by 300,000 kWh annually and cut CO2 emissions by 60 tons. This compressor uses a new refrigerant with a significantly lower Global Warming Potential (GWP).

KSG also switched to a biological exhaust air purification system, replacing the thermal afterburning (RTO) system. This change saves about 1,368,000 kWh of natural gas per year and reduces CO2 emissions by approximately 300 tons.

CTO Swen Klöden highlighted plans for further investments aimed at eliminating natural gas consumption. One such project includes a closed cooling circuit for transfer presses, which will recover waste heat and save 180,000 m³ of service water annually.

Sustainability is a core component of KSG Group's strategy, addressing climate change and the growing demand for green products. The Austrian site, KSG Austria GmbH, exemplifies this commitment by not using natural gas or oil for heating, relying instead on residual heat from production processes and renewable energy sources such as hydropower, solar, and wind energy.
