Infineon Secures 21.3% MCU Market Share, Becomes Global Leader - IC Manufacturing

On March 10, 2025, Infineon Technologies AG has officially claimed the number one position in the global microcontroller (MCU) market for the first time in its history. According to the latest Omdia report, Infineon reached a 21.3% market share in 2024, up from 17.8% in 2023, marking the largest year-over-year gain of 3.5 percentage points among competitors.

Rising to the Top

Infineon's remarkable growth outpaced the overall MCU market. Since 2015, the company's MCU business has expanded by an average of 13% per year, significantly surpassing the market's 4% annual growth.

In 2023, Infineon became the world's leading supplier of automotive microcontrollers — and now, in 2024, it holds the top spot across all MCU end markets combined. The global MCU market generated $22.4 billion in sales in 2024, down from $28 billion the previous year, with Infineon standing as the clear leader despite the market decline.

Innovation Driving Success

According to Andreas Urschitz, Chief Marketing Officer and Management Board Member at Infineon:

"Our rise to the top proves the strength of our comprehensive product portfolio, powerful software, and user-friendly development tools — all designed to exceed customer expectations. For over a decade, we've consistently delivered efficient, high-performance solutions that power key innovations in decarbonization and digitalization, helping us outgrow the market and expand our share."
