Fire Devastates CSI PCB Factory in Toulouse
Based in Toulouse since 1981, CSI SUD-OUEST, specialized in high-technology printed circuit boards (PCBs) and sister company to Cimulec, suffered a devastating fire on the night of Friday, July 26. This company, specializing in printed circuits for the aeronautics industry, has left its employees unable to return to work since Monday, July 29.
The fire ravaged CSI's industrial site, completely destroying one of the two main buildings and lightly damaging the other. With critical equipment ruined, the factory is now out of service. Eric De Ponthaud, CSI's general director, stated, "The equipment in the two buildings was necessary for the manufacture of the parts. The destruction of one building makes it impossible to operate the site, rendering it inoperable with immediate effect."
Estonia’s Last PCB Manufacturer, Brandner PCB, to Close
Brandner PCB, the last remaining PCB manufacturer in Estonia, located in Paide, southeast of Tallinn, will shut down in late November, according to the Estonian Electronics Association. The company has informed customers that no orders will be accepted after November 22, 2024, and has notified the Employment Office of the planned layoffs.
Despite stable revenues over the past few years (2020: €2.45M, 2021: €2.65M, 2022: €2.76M, 2023: €2.34M), net profit plummeted from 13.2% in 2022 to 1.6% in 2023. The company employs 27 people.
