Foxconn's Subsidiary Shunsin Pursues $80 Million Chip Manufacturing Project in Vietnam

Shunsin Vietnam Technology Co., Ltd., (6451.TW) a subsidiary of Taiwan's electronics giant Foxconn (Hon Hai Precision Industry), is progressing with plans to establish a semiconductor manufacturing facility in Bac Giang Province, Vietnam. The investment, valued at $80 million, will focus on producing and processing integrated circuits (ICs), targeting annual production of 4.5 million units exclusively for export to markets in the U.S., EU, and Japan.

According to the Environmental Impact Assessment report submitted to Vietnam's Ministry of Planning and Investment, Shunsin will directly invest $20 million, while the remaining $60 million will be raised through loans and fundraising efforts. The facility, to be built over a 44,343.8-square-meter area in the Quang Chau Industrial Park, is expected to complete all necessary procedural steps, including construction permits, by December. Construction and equipment installation will be ongoing until mid-2026, with trial operations beginning in June 2026 and full-scale production slated for December 2026.

This Bac Giang plant will rely on a closed-loop production model already utilized in Shunsin's factories in China. Emphasizing automation, the plant will employ approximately 1,450 workers, including 35 foreign experts, to ensure production efficiency and safety.

This project is part of Foxconn's broader strategy to expand its manufacturing footprint outside China, reinforcing Vietnam's role as a key player in its global supply chain. Foxconn has invested over $3.2 billion in Vietnam since entering the market in the early 2000s, with substantial operations in Bac Ninh and Bac Giang provinces, producing a wide range of electronics from IT devices to automotive components.
