A leading supplier of high-end PCBs and IC substrates, AT&S mourns the passing of its Supervisory Board Chairman, Dr. Hannes Androsch, who died on December 11, 2024, at the age of 86. A visionary leader, Dr. Androsch played a pivotal role in transforming AT&S from a small Austrian PCB manufacturer with 939 employees in 1994 into a global technology leader with 13,500 employees today.
A Legacy of Leadership
Dr. Androsch’s leadership was instrumental in AT&S’s rise to one of the world’s top manufacturers of IC substrates and PCBs. His belief in innovation and his commitment to the company’s workforce laid the foundation for its success. “His vision shaped AT&S for decades and will guide us into the future,” said the Supervisory Board.
AT&S’s management emphasized his contributions, noting, “Our expansion to global facilities in Austria, China, India, Korea, and soon Malaysia is a testament to his unwavering belief in AT&S and its people.”
Champion of Education and Research
Beyond AT&S, Dr. Androsch was a staunch advocate for education and research. A former politician, he championed initiatives for digital transformation and educational reform in Austria. Among his many roles, he chaired the University Council of Montanuniversität Leoben, served as Chairman of the Austrian Institute of Technology, and was a prominent member of Austria’s Academy of Sciences.
Dr. Androsch’s efforts earned him numerous honors, including honorary degrees from several prestigious institutions.
A Visionary Remembered
In a 2022 speech during the inauguration of a new microelectronics facility in Leoben, Dr. Androsch reflected on AT&S’s journey: “From a small Styrian company to a global technology leader, AT&S’s roots in Leoben remain deep.” His ability to turn challenges into opportunities defined his leadership.
