Kyocera Corporation (6971.T) announced on the 9th that production has been halted at its Kokubu and Hayato plants in Kirishima City, Kagoshima Prefecture, due to damage sustained by some production equipment following an earthquake that struck off the coast of Hyuga-nada in Miyazaki Prefecture on the evening of the 8th, local time. In response to the issuance of the Nankai Trough Temporary Information "Megaquake Warning," the company has established a disaster response headquarters.
According to Kyocera, the earthquake with its epicenter in Hyuga-nada caused injuries to three employees at the Kagoshima Kokubu plant located in Kokubu Yamashita-cho, Kirishima City. Kyocera stated, "There have been no reports of severe injuries."
Additionally, some production equipment at the Kagoshima Kokubu plant and the Kagoshima Hayato plant in Hayato-cho, Kirishima City, was damaged. As of 11 a.m. on the 9th, local time, partial production at the Kagoshima Kokubu plant and all production at the Kagoshima Hayato plant have been halted.
The company operates three plants in Kagoshima Prefecture and has planned a summer shutdown from the 10th to the 18th.

2.Kagoshima Hayato Plant: This plant focuses on the production of semiconductor-related products, including semiconductor packaging materials, electronic components, and optical components. Additionally, the factory is involved in the manufacturing of solar cell-related products.
3.Kagoshima Kokubu Plant: This plant specializes in the production of precision ceramic products, which are widely used in semiconductor manufacturing equipment, medical equipment, and other high-tech industries.
