Doosan(KRX:000150) has been selected as a supplier of copper-clad laminates (CCL) to Nvidia, the world's leading graphics processing unit (GPU) manufacturer. As critical material for AI accelerators, the actual supply of CCL to Nvidia is expected to begin in August, and the primary supply route is to provide CCL to semiconductor substrate manufacturers, who will then deliver the substrate to Nvidia.

Many believe that the substrate manufacturer is LG Innotek, which produces semiconductor substrates by receiving CCL from materials companies.

Doosan has been actively investing in the development of high-strength CCL technology for the production of semiconductors that require faster processing, especially in light of the expansion of the generative artificial intelligence market with the launch of ChatGPT, and has recently announced plans to invest 10 trillion won in the semiconductor business over the next five years.

"While constantly enhancing the competitiveness of CCL products, we have also developed various advanced materials and technologies such as PFC and 5G antenna modules and commercialized them," said a Doosan executive. "We will continue to use our company's experience and capabilities to identify new businesses and cultivate them as new growth engines for the future."
