DAEDUCK fined for illegally demanding technical documents from subcontractors

Daeduck (KOSPI:008060) and its subsidiary Daeduck Electronics (KOSPI:353200),manufacturers of PCBs (Printed Circuit Boards) used in semiconductors and other electronic products, were found to have requested technical data from their subcontractors without providing the required documentation and will face sanctions.

The Fair Trade Commission (FTC) announced on the 23rd that it would issue corrective orders and impose a fine of 48 million won on Daeduck Electronics and Daeduck for violating the Fair Transactions in Subcontracting Act.

According to the FTC, from September 2018 to May 2021, Daeduck Electronics and Daeduck requested 162 pieces of technical data containing the know-how of their subcontractors related to the laser drilling process without providing the written documentation specifying the purpose of the request.

According to the current Subcontracting Act, to protect the technology of subcontractors, technical data cannot be requested without justifiable reasons. If a request is made, it is mandatory to provide written documentation in advance that clearly states the purpose of the request and the details of the rights and obligations.

The Fair Trade Commission stated, "In the future, we will continue to make efforts to prevent legal violations by strictly sanctioning acts of misusing technical data and procedural violations to protect the technical data of small and medium-sized enterprises.
