A global leader in high-density interconnect (HDI) boards, Compeq Manufacturing Co., Ltd. (2313.TW), officially inaugurated its new plant in Bang Bo District, Samut Prakan Province, Thailand, on December 16. The facility is set to become a key part of the company's expansion strategy in Southeast Asia, with mass production slated to begin in 2025.
Strategic Move to Southeast Asia
This new factory, located within the Asia Industrial Estate, marks Compeq's first manufacturing base in Southeast Asia. The plant covers an area of approximately 180,000 square meters. The company acquired the site in 2023 and has since made significant progress, with the first factory and office building expected to be completed by mid-2024. Equipment installation is already underway, and the production lines are being fine-tuned for efficient operation.
The grand opening ceremony was attended by prominent figures, including Ambassador Zhang Junfu from the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Thailand, as well as Narit Bhumisak, Secretary-General of the Thailand Board of Investment (BOI). Compeq's Chairman Jiang Peikun and the plant's General Manager Li Shiming presided over the event, underscoring the importance of this facility in the company's global expansion.
Production Focus and Expansion Plans
In its first phase, the Thailand plant will primarily focus on producing Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite boards, catering to key clients in the rapidly growing satellite industry. Compeq has already secured orders from four major LEO satellite operators, positioning itself as a key player in this high-demand sector. As the facility ramps up production, it will also explore new opportunities, including expanding into AI servers and network communication systems, which will involve the development of advanced HDI boards.
This expansion reflects the company's long-term strategy to diversify its product offerings and capitalize on the growing global demand for semiconductors and advanced electronic systems.
Strengthening the Global PCB Supply Chain
The Thailand factory is part of Compeq's broader strategy to strengthen the global Printed Circuit Board (PCB) supply chain. As part of the company's commitment to meeting international demand, the plant will serve as a key production hub to support clients in the communications, automotive, consumer electronics, and aerospace industries.
Compeq currently operates major production facilities in Taoyuan, Taiwan, and Huizhou and Chongqing in China. With this new plant in Thailand, Compeq aims to enhance its global leadership in the HDI board market, which is experiencing robust growth driven by the proliferation of new technologies like electric vehicles and next-gen communication systems.
Looking Ahead
The new Compeq Thailand plant is poised to play a critical role in the company's future growth. As it ramps up production and diversifies its offerings, the facility will help Compeq meet increasing demand for high-tech PCBs, positioning the company for continued leadership in the global semiconductor and electronics industries.
By expanding its footprint in Southeast Asia, Compeq not only strengthens its global production capacity but also reinforces its commitment to delivering cutting-edge solutions to clients around the world.
