China Eagle Soars on Plan to Build USD79 Million Printed Circuit Board Plant in Thailand
Dec. 26 -- Shares in Huizhou China Eagle Electronic Technology jumped as much as 8.4 percent today after the Chinese circuit board supplier said that it will invest CNY550 million (USD79 million) to construct a facility for printed circuit boards in Thailand that will supply local automotive electronics, computer and electrical appliance makers.
Eagle Electronic’s share price [SHE:002579] edged up 1.5 percent to close at CNY13.23 (USD1.90). Earlier today it surged 8.4 percent to hit CNY14.11, a four-and-a-half-month high.
The plant will make high-density multi-layer circuit boards and interconnect circuit boards and will be located in Thailand’s Rojana Industrial Park where Eagle Electronic is buying 10 hectares of land, the Huizhou, southern Guangdong province-based company said on Dec. 23. Production should start in 2025. No mention was made of the planned output capacity.
Thailand has a well-developed printed circuit board industrial chain, it said. It is the largest carmaker and exporter in the Southeast Asia region as well as a major computer and electronic appliances exporter.
The Thai base will enable Eagle Electronic to make full use of the strong industrial foundation in the area, take advantage of the good location as well as provide better products and services for the company’s existing and future customers, it added.
