The average selling price (ASP) for semiconductors in 3Q23 was US$0.568 per unit, which increased by 3.6% from Q2 and also enjoyed double-digit growth of 11.6% from the same period last year, showing signs of recovery, according to World Semiconductor Trade Statistics (WSTS).
World Semiconductor Trade Statistics show that global semiconductor market sales value in the third quarter of 2023 (3Q23) increased by 6.3% from Q2 but declined by 4.5% from the same period last year to a total of US$134.7 billion. In terms of volume, a total of 237.1 billion units were sold during the 3Q23, up 2.6% quarter on quarter but down 14.4% year-on-year.
The performance of countries varies. China remains the largest market, registering US$39.2 billion in sales for 3Q23, up 5.1% from the previous quarter but dropping 9.4% from the same period in 2022.
Sales in the US market increased by 13.9% quarterly to reach US$35.4 billion but slipped 2.0% from the same period last year.
The European semiconductor market saw 2.4% quarterly growth and 6.7% annual growth for 3Q23 sales revenues, which totaled US$14.5 billion.
Japan, the fourth largest market, saw its semiconductor sales decline by 1.7% by quarter and 3.6% by annum to total US$11.7 billion.
The Asia Pacific region market (ex China, ex Japan), saw its US$33.9 billion sales rebounded by 4.9% from the trough in the second quarter, but still down 5.6% from 3Q22.
