AT&S Malaysia partners with Universiti Sains Malaysia on copper recycling research

AT&S Malaysia has formalised the first collaborative research project with a Malaysian university by entering a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with the Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM).

With the corporate aspiration of AT&S in promoting sustainability, two master’s projects in copper recycling are planned for the strategic partnership to support knowledge creation and exchange between the industry and academia.

At the ceremony of signing and exchange of MoA, AT&S Malaysia was represented by the Senior Director of Human Resources, Sharifah Salmah Syed Harun and the ESG Manager, Loh Chin Ling, while USM was represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Industry and Community Network, Professor Dr. Azlan Amran, representing Vice-Chancellor, and witnessed by Professor. Ir. Dr. Mariatti Jaafar Mustapha, Dean of School of Materials and Mineral Resources Engineering.

On behalf of AT&S SVP and Malaysia Managing Director, ChenJiang Phua, who leads the country management, Syed Harun remarks, “We are pleased to have sealed a MoA with USM that demonstrates AT&S’s continuous commitment to collaborate with universities.” 

Loh also added, “The research projects will contribute knowledge and technology transfer in education and research, that will reduce environmental footprints and promote circular economy. This is definitely our corporate objective in the business of high-end IC substrates for advanced packaging technology.”
