AT&S Celebrates 25 Years in India, Earns Intel Award Alongside Global Tech Leaders - PCB Manufacturing

AT&S, the Austria-based leader in high-end printed circuit boards and IC substrates, is celebrating 25 years of operations in India this year—a milestone that reflects its broader global strategy of expansion, innovation, and sustainability.

Back in 1998, AT&S entered the Indian market by acquiring a small electronics plant in Nanjangud, near Mysore, with just 380 employees. At the time, few multinational tech manufacturers were willing to invest in India. Today, that site has grown into a world-class production hub employing 1,100 people and playing a key role in global supply chains for the automotive, industrial, and infrastructure sectors.

On April 3, 2025, AT&S marked its "Silver Jubilee" in India with a celebration attended by employees, their families, and local dignitaries. Speaking at the event, Peter Schneider, Spokesman of the Board and EVP of the Electronics Solutions Business Unit, praised the dedication of AT&S employees and the company's long-standing partnership with the Nanjangud community. Over the years, AT&S India has supported education, sanitation, and emergency relief efforts, impacting thousands of lives.

The celebration in India comes as AT&S accelerates its international footprint. On March 5, the company opened a new sales office in Seoul, South Korea, aiming to strengthen ties with leading electronics and automotive companies. “Expanding our presence in South Korea is a key part of our global growth strategy,” Schneider said. The office will focus on delivering solutions for AI, automotive electronics, and wireless communications.

Just a week later, on March 12, AT&S signed a $250 million sustainability-linked loan agreement with the International Finance Corporation (IFC) to support the development of its new IC substrate factory in Kulim, Malaysia. The agreement includes performance-based incentives tied to reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 31% by the end of fiscal year 2027/28, compared to 2022 levels. An additional $150 million may be provided by local banks under the same framework.

The Kulim facility, built to the highest sustainability standards, will soon begin supplying IC substrates for AMD's data center processors. AT&S says it will include state-of-the-art recycling systems and sustainable energy solutions as part of its green manufacturing approach.

Environmental performance has become a core focus for AT&S. In its 2024/25 sustainability report released on World Recycling Day (March 18), the company disclosed it had recycled 268 tons of copper, 170 kilograms of gold, 35 kilograms of palladium, and 1.5 million cubic meters of water globally, significantly reducing both costs and environmental impact.
