ASML takes step toward major expansion in Eindhoven, Netherlands

ASML, the top equipment supplier to computer chip makers, is considering a major expansion in Eindhoven, the Netherlands.

The company and the city of Eindhoven said on Monday they had signed a letter of intent to explore an expansion large enough to house 20,000 new employees in a relatively undeveloped area in the north of Eindhoven near the city's airport.

The Dutch government's $2.7 billion investment in Eindhoven's infrastructure helps secure ASML's presence in the region.

ASML aims to keep core activities close to their current headquarters in Veldhoven.   The company values talent, infrastructure, housing, and a positive investment climate.    The expansion aligns with the government's support for the chip sector.

ASML, Europe's largest tech firm, leads in lithography systems and anticipates growth in the semiconductor market over the next decade.
